12/10/09 Engine Assists Salem on Working Fire
At 04:46 hours, Company 9 (Salem VFD/EMS), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), and Doddridge County Engine 31 (Smithburg VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on Turkey Run in Salem. Engine 71 (w/4-DC Haddix) hit the street shortly after and arrived on scene behind Engines 91 and 92 with a fully involved house, garage, and several vehicles and storage containers on fire. Crews assisted with fire extinguishment and hitting hotspots. engine 71 returned home at 07:05 hours.
11/15/09 Rt. 20 Crash Sends 2 to UHC
At 23:04, Companies 7 (Nutter Fort VFD), 12 (Stonewood VFD), and Ambulance 19 (Anmoore FIRE/EMS) were alerted for a Vehicle Accident w/Injuries on Rt. 20 in Walnut Hills. Engine 71 (w/4-FF/EMT Gibson) hit the streets seconds later with Unit 76 (w/4-Capt. Nuzum) not far behind. Engine 71 arrived on scene and advised HC911 of a 3 vehicle collision with 2 vehicles colliding head-on with both landing on their sides with 1 patient partially ejected. Due to negative entrapment, Rescue 124 (Stonewood VFD) was returned enroute. Crews assisted AVFD/EMS Medic 19 and Ambulance 18 with patient care and packaging 2 ALS patients for transport to UHC as well as hazard cleanup and traffic control before returning in station by 00:15 hours. 11/4/09 Chimney Fire w/Extension in Rockford
At around 09:05, Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD) and Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD) were alerted to assist Comapny 3 (Lost Creek VFD) with a Chimney Fire with Extension into the residence on Rockford Road in Rockford Community. Engine 73 (w/3-FF Waggamon) hit the streets moments later and were advised by HC911 that Engine 31 was on scene with a working chimney fire with extension to the roof. E73 arrived on scene as 2nd due engine and picked up 31's supply line and suppiled 31 with water while the packed crew went inside and assisted with fire extinguishment and checking for any hidden hotspots or further extension using the TIC (Thermal Imaging Camera). Crews were back in service in just under an hour.
11/1/09 1st Due Working Structure Fire
At 04:08, Company 7 (Nutter Fort VFD), Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD), and Engine 11 (Anmoore VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on Route 20 in Centerbranch. Engine 73 (w/6-AC Richards) hit the streets 2 minutes later with Engine 72 (w/4-Capt. Rohrbough) not far behind. E73 was the first arriving unit and advised HC911 of an approx. 40' by 20' storage building on fire. Engine 73's crew then stretched an 1.75" cross lay and began fire attack. Crews had the fire under control within 10 minutes. Command 7 then held the BOX to all Co. 7 apparatus and STVFDE122, returning the responding AVFD E12. Crews doused the remaining hot spots before returning in service in just over an hour.
9/26/09 3 Working Fires Within 24 Hours with 2 in the First Due
At 00:45, Company 1 (Anmoore VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), and Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on North Philippi Pike in East View near the Dollar General. Engine 73 (w/6-AC Richards) hit the street seconds later with Squad 7 (w/3-DC Haddix) and Chief 7 (Rohrbough) not far behind. AVFD Engine 12 arrived on scene and advised HC911 of a trailer on fire with flames showing and pending exposures. Engine 73 arrived on scene as the 2nd due engine and sent its packed crew to assist with fire attack while providing scene lighting. Crews then discovered the trailer was completely filled with tires making for a very hot and difficult fire. Crews began knocking down the blaze and removing the smoldering tires when in the middle of the fire, at 01:19, the BOX dropped for a Structure Fire at Fantasy Island Gentleman’s Club on Upper Sud’s Run Road in Quiet Dell alerting Company 7 (Nutter Fort VFD), Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD), and Engine 11 (Anmoore VFD). Command 1 quickly released Engine 73 and Squad 7 and crews diverted to the Quiet Dell box. Chief 7 (Rohrbough) also responded and was advised by HC911 they were receiving multiple calls reporting flames showing from the front of the establishment. Chief 7 then requested a 2nd alarm with all units on the assignment being committed to the East View fire. This sent Engine 51 (Mt. Clare VFD), Engine 31 (Lost Creek VFD), and Engine 21 (Bridgeport VFD) to the scene. Chief 7 then arrived on scene and confirmed the report of a working fire. Engine 73 arrived and crews stretched 2 (two) 1 ¾” cross lays and began to attack the fire while 73 dropped the 3” supply line for the next due engine. Unit 76 (w/2-Lt. Paugh)and STVFD Unit 125 arrived on the scene and sent their manpower to assist in fire attack while LCVFD Tanker 3 arrived on scene and supplied E73 with water. MCVFD E52, LCVFD E31, and BPVFD E22 arrived on scene shortly after. Crews set up the 24’ extension ladder on the side of the building to begin ventilation and hit hot spots on the roof while E22 set up the PPV fan at the side door. Crews made an aggressive attack on the fire knocking the bulk of it down within 20 minutes. Then early that afternoon, while volunteers were hoping for a quiet day of rest, at 13:16, Company 7 (Nutter Fort VFD), Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD), and Engine 11 (Anmoore VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire at Norwood Park on Buckhannon Pike in Nutter Fort. Engines 71, 72, and 73 and Squad 7 (12 personal) all responded and arrived on scene moments later with a small fire in a bathroom almost extinguished by NFPD. Command 7 then held the box to all Co. 7 units and returned all others. In the process of pulling the 1 ¾” cross lay to begin knocking the rest of the fire down, the fire was knocked using the water can off of Engine 72. Crews ventilated the structure and returned in service 25 minutes later.
9/22/09 Assist Anmoore with Wreck on I-79
At 16:06, Company 1 (Anmoore VFD), Rescue 124 (Stonewood VFD), and 519 (Bridgeport FIRE/EMS) were alerted for a Vehicle Accident w/Injuries and Entrapment on the Northbound exit ramp at the 117 MM on I-79. Authority of Command 1, Engine 73 (w/4-DC Haddix) and Unit 76 (w/2-AC Richards) hit the street moments later. AVFD E12 and U15 arrived on scene and advised HC911 of 1 vehicle on its top in a ditch with negative entrapment. R124 was then returned. 9/20/09 Hay Barn Fire on Shaw's Run
At 15:21, Company 9 (Salem VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), and Doddridge Engine 31 (Smithburg VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on Shaw’s Run Road just off of Hall’s Run Road in Bristol. Engine 73 (w/6-DC Haddix) hit the street seconds later. SVFD Engine 91 arrived on the scene and advised HC911 of a hay barn on fire with approximately 300-400 bales of hay inside fully involved. Engine 91 then stretched a 1 ¾” cross lay and began the attack. Command 9 then advised incoming units that a diesel fuel tank and storage shed was within 100 feet of the barn. Engine 73 arrived on scene as the 2nd due engine and dropped the 3” supply line into E91 while 73’s packed crew walked up to the scene and stretched a 2nd 1 ¾” cross lay off of 91 and assisted with fire extinguishment, while Co. 9 protected the exposures. Mother Nature then lent her helping hand in the efforts by allowing a down pour of rain to keep the fire contained to the barn and allowing the firefighters to take a much needed rest but still protecting the exposures. With the rain in no sign of slacking down Command 9 then held the box to Salem Fire units and released all mutual aid units. 9/14/09 1 Patient Entrapped in Rt. 20 Crash
At 15:23 hours, Companies 7 (Nutter Fort VFD), 12 (Stonewood VFD), and 19 (Anmoore Fire/EMS) were alerted for a Vehicle Accident w/Injuries and Entrapment on Rt. 20 just before the Rt. 20 and Rt. 57 split. Engine 73 (w/5-Capt. Rohrbough) hit the street seconds later and arrived on scene just behind Medic 18 and advised HC911 of a 2-vehicle head-on-type collision with 2 patients still inside the vehicle requiring a door pop to gain access. Medic 18 then requested a 2nd ambulance to the scene sending Harrison County EMS to the scene. STVFD R124 and U125 arrived on scene and began the extrication removing the driver’s door and removing the roof while Co. 7 assisted with patient care and hazard control. Extrication time was less than 10 minutes. Crews then assisted Harrison County Sheriff’s Department with their investigation and traffic control before returning in service by 16:45. 9/13 - 9/14/09 2 Small Fires in East View in less than 12 Hours
At 18:35 hours, Company 1 (Anmoore VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), and Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on 1st Street in East View. Engine 71 (w/6-AC Richards) and Squad 7 (w/2-FF Hagan) hit the streets seconds later. AVFD Engine 12 arrived on scene and advised of a vacant mobile home with a small fire under the trailer. Upon E71’s arrival crews assisted in extinguishing the fire and ventilating the trailer and returned in service by 19:05.
At 03:14 hours on the 14th, Company 1 (Anmoore VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), and Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on Washington Street in East View. Engine 71 (w/5-FF Hardman) hit the street moments later and arrived behind AVFD E12 and advised HC911 of a 1-story dwelling with a small kitchen fire mostly extinguished by the homeowner. Crews stretched a 1 ¾” cross lay through the front door and knocked down the remaining fire while 71 set up its light tower for scene lighting. Crews then placed a PPV fan at the door to ventilate the residence and check for extension using the TIC (Thermal Imaging Camera). 8/29/09 Entrapment on Rt. 20
At 13:31, Companies 7 (Nutter Fort VFD), 12 (Stonewood VFD), and 19 (Anmoore Fire/EMS) were alerted for a Vehicle Accident w/Injuries on Rt. 20 just past Bel Meadows near the Rt. 20 and 57 split. Engine 73 (w/4-AC Richards) hit the street seconds later with Unit 76 (w/3-Capt. Rohrbough) not far behind. Chief 12 (Minor) then arrived on scene and advised HC911 of a T-bone type collision involving a Honda Accord vs. a Toyota Sequoia with 1 patient entrapped in the Accord. Co. 7 apparatus arrived on scene and began assisting Ambulance 17 with patient care and obtained 2 sign offs from the Sequoia. STVFD Rescue 124 arrived on scene and placed the Hurst tools in service popping the driver’s door and removing the roof. Extrication time was less than 10 minutes. 8/23 - 8/24/09 3 Working House Fires in 24 Hours
8/23- At around 01:35 a passerby walked into Co. 1 (Anmoore VFD) and stated they saw heavy smoke coming from a house on North Ash Street in Anmoore. With this, Engine 12 responded and arrived on scene with a working fire on the outside rear of a 2-story dwelling and requested a box assignment to be alerted. In the process, E12 stretched a 1 ¾” cross lay and began fire attack. This sent Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD), and Engine 21 (Bridgeport VFD) to the scene. Engine 71 (w/5-AC Richards) hit the street seconds later and arrived on scene as 3rd due engine and were ordered to send their manpower inside to assist with mop up with the fire being out. Command 1 then returned the responding BPVFD E22 and STVFD E122. Engine 71’s crew checked for extension using the TIC (Thermal Imaging Camera) and provided scene lighting before returning by 02:10.

Then at 04:32, Company 1 (Anmoore VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), and Engine 21 (Bridgeport VFD) were alerted for a Smoke Investigation on North Ash Street in Anmoore near the same location as the previous fire. Engine 71 (w/5 AC Richards) hit the streets seconds later. Engine 12 once again responded and arrived on scene and advised HC911 they were on location with a working house fire and stretched an 1 ¾” cross lay and began attempting to make entry into the home. E71 arrived on scene as 2nd due engine and were advised to stretch a 1 ¾” cross lay to assist Co. 1 at the front door making entry while also being ordered to set up the light tower to provide scene lighting and laid 250’ of 4” LDH and secured their own plug on the corner. As crews were advancing their way into the structure, crews encountered heavy fire in the living room and attic, while 71 stretched a 2nd 1 ¾” cross lay to make entry through the back door. Interior crews made an aggressive attack on the fire knocking most of it down within 25 minutes. Extension was found in the walls and cockloft and crews which were found using the TIC (Thermal Imaging Camera). Firefighters then headed up to the roof to extinguish the remaining hot spots as crews inside did a final dousing of all the rooms. Crews went ready by 08:00.

8/24- At 02:58, Company 8 (Reynoldsville VFD), Engine 91 (Salem VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), Engine 131 (Summit Park VFD), and Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on Gladys Hollow in Reynoldsville. Engine 71 (w/6-AC Richards) hit the street shortly after with Tanker 7 (w/2-FF Gross) not far behind. RVFD E81 arrived on scene and advised HC911 of a 1 story wooden dwelling fully involved. Command 8 then requested Engine 11 (Anmoore VFD), Tanker 3 (Lost Creek VFD), and Engine 112 (Spelter VFD) to be added to the alarm. E71 arrived on scene as 2nd due engine, picked up 81’s 3” supply line for water supply, set up the light tower for scene lighting, and assisted in fire attack. Crews extinguished the bulk of the fire within 30 minutes and began mop up. A ProPak off of Tanker 7 was used to lay a foam blanket to finish hitting hotspots. SVFD Engine 112 transferred to Co. 8 while all other responding units were ordered to stage and eventually were returned. Crews assisted Co. 8 in packing up their equipment and crews went ready by 06:00.

7/17/09 Driver Narrowly Escapes Injuries in Quiet Dell Crash
At 18:52 hours, Companies 7 (Nutter Fort VFD), 12 (Stonewood VFD), and Ambulance 19 (Anmoore VFD) were alerted for a Vehicle Accident w/Injuries on Lower Circle Drive in Quiet Dell. Engine 73 (w/6-AC Richards) and Squad 7 (w/2-FF Hardman) hit the streets seconds later. Units arrived on scene and advised HC911 of 1 vehicle vs. a tree with the driver out of the vehicle. The sole occupant of the vehicle refused EMS treatment and transport. STVFD R124 was returned while enroute and AVFD Ambulance 17 was released from the scene shortly after. Crews assisted with traffic control and once the vehicle was removed from the roadway all units went ready at 19:52. Just a reminder to everyone to take it slow on wet roads. 6/20/09 Engine and Tanker Take in 2 Jobs in Less Than 12 Hours
At 00:03 hours, Company 8 (Reynoldsville VFD), Engine 41 (Lumberport VFD), Engine 131 (Summit Park VFD), and Engine 141 (Wallace VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on Sardis Road in Sardis. Chief 8 (McNemar) arrived on scene and advised HC911 of a 2-story dwelling 75% in fire with pending exposures and requested Engine 71 and Tanker 7 (Nutter Fort VFD) to be added to the alarm. Engine 73 (w/6-AC Richards) and Tanker 7 (w/2-FF Garrett) hit the streets seconds later. Engine 73 arrived on scene as 3rd due engine and sent its manpower inside to assist with interior attack while supplying RVFD Engine 81 with water. Tanker 7 then arrived on scene and took over water supply. Once inside crews were faced with heavy fire conditions in the attic and the rear of the 1st floor while other crews were beginning ventilation. After getting the fire knocked 73’s crew assisted in a very lengthy overhaul hitting the numerous hotspots that remained and opened up all ceilings and walls. The hope for a long day and night of rest for Co. 7 was interrupted at 21:07 when Company 8 (Reynoldsville VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), Engine 131 (Summit Park VFD), and Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on Gladys Hollow in Reynoldsville. Engine 73 (w/5-AC Richards) and Tanker 7 (w/2-FF Gross) hit the street seconds later. RVFD E81 arrived on scene and advised HC911 of a working garage fire near a trailer. Upon E73’s arrival crews assisted in fire attack and the Tanker supplied 1 load of water. An aggressive first attack by Co. 8 stopped the fire from spreading to the nearby trailer. Crews then put a foam blanket on the fire using a ProPak off of E73. After finishing salvage and overhaul crews returned in service at 22:15. Engine 121 was requested to transfer to Co. 8 while enroute to the scene. While crews were battling the blaze, the standby crew took in a Power line Fire in Cedar Heights in Clarksburg but found nothing and returned in service. Picture courtesy of WBOY TV.

6/10/09 Volunteers First Arriving on 2nd Due Job
At 20:12, Company 1 (Anmoore VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), and Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on Fowler Avenue Extension in East View. Engine 73 (w/6-Capt. Rohrbough) and Squad 7 (w/4-AC Richards) hit the street seconds later. E73 and Sq7 were the first arriving units and advised HC911 of a 1-story dwelling with fire and heavy smoke showing. E73's crew stretched an 1.75" cross lay through the front door to begin fire attack while Squad 7's crew hit the plug and stretched 100' of 4" LDH off the the incoming AVFD Engine 12 and hooked in to 73. Upon making entry, crews encountered heavy fire and smoke conditions in the kitchen, dining, and living room areas. Firefighters also found a dog, cat, and several other small animals in the house but only 1 of which survived. While interior crews were hard at work firefighters from 1 and 12 were setting up ground ladders and beginning roof ventilation. The Boys from 7 made a fast knock on the fire knocking most of it down within 10 minutes. After an extensive overhaul and clean up Co. 7 units were back in service by 22:30. 6/9/09 Tanker Goes to Rt. 73 for the House Fire
At around 13:45, Tanker 7 (Nutter Fort VFD) was alerted to respond to assist Bridgeport, Shinnston, and Boothsville VFD's with a working structure fire on Sugarcamp Road on Rt. 73 just outside of Bridgeport. Tanker 7 (w/2-Lt. Hudkins) hit the street seconds later. Tanker 7 shuttled 2 loads of water before returning in service just after 15:00. The home is a total loss. Picture courtesy of WBOY TV.

5/22/09 Volunteers Respond to Lost Creek 2 Alarm Commercial Job
At 02:52, Company 3 (Lost Creek VFD), Engine 151 (West Milford VFD), Engine 161 (Johnstown VFD), and Lewis Engine 21 (Jane Lew VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on near the intersection of US Rt. 25 and US Rt. 270. Chief 3 then requested Engine 72 (Nutter Fort VFD) and Engine 12 (Anmoore VFD) to be added to the call. LCVFD E32 and JLVFD E21 were the first arriving units and advised HC911 of a 2-story commercial structure with heavy flames and smoke showing and requested a 2nd Alarm. This brought engine 51 (Mt. Clare VFD), Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD), Engine 131 (Summit Park VFD), and Truck 2 (Bridgeport VFD) to the scene. Engine 72 (w/5-AC Richards) and Squad 7 (w/2-DC Haddix) hit the street 2 minutes later. Upon Co. 7's arrival, 72 laid almost 700' of 4" supply to the hydrant and then picked up Lewis 21's 2.5" blitz line and asssited crews inside with interior attack. Shortly after starting interior operations crews were pulled out due to ceiling and roof collapses. 72 and Truck 2 were then ordered to begin master stream operations and all operations would be exterior. 72 then stretched an 1.75" cross lay to assist with exterior attack. 5/10/09 Engine Transfers and Tanker Goes to Scene on a Job in Sardis
At 04:41, Company 8 (Reynoldsville VFD), Engine 141 (Wallace VFD), Engine 41 (Lumberport VFD), and Engine 131 (Summit Park VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on River Road in Sardis. Shortly going on scene advising HC911 of a fully involved structure fire, Command 8 requested that Engine 71 transfer to Co. 8 and Tanker 7 to respond to the scene. Engine 71 (w/5-FF Gibson) and Tanker 7 (w/2-FF Ferrari) hit the street minutes later. Tanker 7 stood by at the scene with no services needed but did assist units in packing up their equipment. All Co. 7 units returned home by 08:00.
5/9/09 Volunteers Make Fast Work of Room and Contents Job
At 09:57, Company 16 (Johnstown VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), and Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on Rt. 20 near the Harrison/Barbour County line. Engine 71 (w/5-AC Richards) hit the street seconds later with Tanker 7 (w/2-FF Ferrari) not far behind. JTVFD E161 arrived on scene shortly after adivising HC911 of a 1-story dwelling with light smoke showing and a working fire in the back of the house. E71's crew assisted 161 in advancing an 1.75" cross lay through the front door and provided an interior attack crew. Crews made fast work of a room and contents fire knocking it down within minutes. Crews assisted in ventilation and salvage and overhaul before returning in service by 11:00.

4/28/09 Volunteers Take in Early Morning Job in Salem
At 07:00, Company 9 (Salem VFD), Engine 81 (Reynoldsville VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), and Doddridge Engine 31 (Smithburg VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on West Main Street in Salem. Engine 72 (w/4-Capt. Rohrbough) hit the streets 2 minutes later. SVFD E91 and E93 arrived on scene advising HC911 of a 1-story dwelling with heavy fire showing from the front of the residence. Co. 9's crew then stretched a 1.5" cross lay and began fire attack. E72's crew arrived on scene and assisted Co. 9 with fire suppression and salvage and overhaul. Crews went ready at around 08:30 but enroute back to station was requested to assist Co. 9 with a Vehicle Accident w/Injuries on Rt. 50 near Salem. Crews assisted with patient care and traffic control before returning home at 10:00.
4/24/09 2 Injured in Rt. 20 Crash
At 23:43, Companies 7 (Nutter Fort VFD), 12 (Stonewood VFD), Medic 19 (Anmoore Fire/EMS) along with Co. 16 (Johnstown VFD) were alerted for a Vehicle Accident w/Injuries on US Route 20 near the Johnstown Road in Romines Mills. Engine 73 (w/5-AC Richards) hit the streets seconds later and arrived on scene shortly with JTVFD Unit 164 and AVFD A17 and 19 advising HC911 of a 1 vehicle vs. a utility pole with lines down and 2 patients. Crews assisted EMS with patient care and traffic control while waiting for the power company. AVFD EMS transported 2 BLS patients to UHC. Crews finally returned home at 02:30. 4/22/09 Volunteers First Arriving on Garage Fire - DASHCAM FOOTAGE!
At 19:42, Company 15 (West Milford VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), and Engine 51 (Mt. Clare VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on Country Club Road near Sandhill in Clarksburg. Engine 71 (w/6-AC Richards) and Chief 7 (Rohrbough) hit the street seconds later with Tanker 7 (w/2-FF Gross) not far behind. Chief 7 arrived on scene shortly after advising HC911 of an 2-stall auto body garage fully involved with possible exposures to vehicles and a nearby residence. Engine 71 arrived on scene and crews stretched an 1 ¾" cross lay and began fire attack. Crews began knocking down the bulk of the fire while making their way into the garage while other Co. 7 firefighters stretched the 1.5" trash line while incoming units were ordered to supply E71 with water and to assist in fire suppression. Crews made fast work of the fire knocking most of it down within 25 minutes. After performing salvage and overhaul all units went ready by 22:30. EXCELLENT JOB BY ALL COMPANIES!

4/6/09 Volunteers Get Early Morning Wake Up for Barbour County Worker
At 06:28, Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD) and Tanker 3 (Lost Creek VFD) were alerted to assist Philippi (Barbour County) and Warren District (Upshur County) VFD's on a working structure fire in Peeltree Community on Rt. 20 in Barbour County. Engine 71 (w/4-Capt. Rohrbough) hit the street 2 minutes later and arrived on scene as 4th due apparatus with a fully involved structure and assisted in fire extinguishment before being released by 08:15. Crews returned home by 09:00.
4/4/09 Volunteers Take in Weekend Job
At 13:18, Company 15 (West Milford VFD), Engine 31 (Lost Creek VFD), and Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on Rt. 270 by South Harrison High School near West Milford. Engine 71 (w/5-AC Richards) hit the street seconds later. LCVFD E31 arrived on scene with a 1-story A-Frame home with fire showing. Engine 71’s crew picked up E31’s line and made entry into the house to begin fire attack. Crews made fast work of the fire knocking it down within 20 minutes. Crews assisted Co. 3 and 15 with salvage and overhaul and returned to home by 15:30. The home is a total loss.

3/26/09 Kinda Slow Around the 7 House
It's been quiet around the the 7 House for the most part. Volunteers have been busy running numerous brush fires, possible structure fires, and AFA's. However, we did take in an Outbuilding Fire in Marshville on the 25th. As a reminder to everyone NO burning between 7 AM and 4 PM. Thanks to the volunteers for their continued dedication.
3/11/09 Entrapment on the Pike--***MORE PICS ADDED!
At 17:48 hours, Company 7 (Nutter Fort VFD) and Harrison County EMS were alerted for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries on Buckhannon Pike near Papa John’s Pizza in Nutter Fort. Engine 71 (w/4-AC Richards) hit the street seconds later and arrived on scene advising a 2 vehicle accident with 1 patient entrapped. Chief 7 (Rohrbough) then added Rescue 124 (Stonewood VFD) to the call. Co. 7 firefighters then began patient care and controlling road hazards. Upon 124’s arrival, crews stabilized the vehicle and removed both driver’s side doors and B Post to gain access to the patient. The extrication time was less than 10 minutes. EMS then took over patient care and R124 was released. Crews cleared the roadway and assisted NFPD in their investigation and the towing company with all units being ready by 19:00. 3/10/09 Doorpop on the Pike
At 14:20 hours, Company 7 (Nutter Fort VFD) and Harrison County EMS were alerted for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries on Buckhannon Pike near Dairy Queen in Nutter Fort. Engine 71 (w/5-Capt. Rohrbough) hit the street seconds later and arrived on scene and advised HC911 of a 2 vehicle rear end type collision with 1 patient still in the vehicle. Crews then began patient care. Chief 7 (Rohrbough) then arrived on scene and requested Rescue 124 (Stonewood VFD) for a doorpop. R124 arrived on scene and popped the drivers side door and removed the B Post to gain acces to the patient. R124 was then released with patient care being transferred to HCEMS. 2/24/09 Trailer Fire in Quiet Dell and Head on Collision on US Route 57
At 04:09 hours, Company 7 (Nutter Fort VFD), Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD), and Engine 11 (Anmoore VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on Upper Cirlce Drive in Quiet Dell. Engine 71 (w/5- DC Haddix) hit the street 2 minutes later with Engine 72 (w/4-AC Richards) and arrived on scene along with Chief 7 (Rohrbough) adivsing HC911 of a fully involved trailer fire. 71's crew placed an 1 ¾” cross lay in service and began extinguishing the fire. Co. 12 and Co. 1 assisted in fire suppression, water supply, and mop up. Crews were in station by 06:30.
Then at 08:34 hours, Company 7 (Nutter Fort VFD), 12 (Stonewood VFD), and Ambulance 19 (Anmoore VFD/EMS) were alerted for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries and Entrapment on US Route 57 past Romines Mills near the Barbour County Line. Engine 71 (w/4 Capt. Rohrbough) hit the street shortly after and arrived on scene advising HC911 of a 2 vehicle head on collision with negative entrapment but with injuries. 2/22/09 House Fire Injures 4 Firefighters
At 02:58, Company 5 (Mt. Clare VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), and Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on Country Club Road in Clarksburg. Engine 71 (w/6-AC Richards) hit the street 2 minutes later with Squad 7 (w/3-DC Haddix) not far behind. 71 arrived on scene as the 1st arriving unit and advised HC911 of a 1-story dwelling with heavy fire showing from the attached garage with exposures to 2 vehicles parked outside. E71’s crew immediately placed 2 1 ¾” cross lays in service splitting into 2 crews with one handing interior attack and the other handling exterior operations and protecting exposures. Upon Squad 7’s arrival, crews laid 100’ of 4” LDH to the hydrant and hooked into 71. Chief 7 (Rohrbough) arrived on scene and was advised by HC911 that the responding MCVFD E52 was stuck in a ditch and would have a delayed response. Engine 81 (Reynoldsville VFD) was then added to the assignment. Upon arrival of mutual aid crews crews were assigned multiple tasks including assisting Co. 7 on the roof attacking fire in the attack and ventilating the structure. Crews made fast work of the fire knocking most of it down within 35 minutes. Upon performing mop up, 4 firefighters came into contact with an unknown chemical causing respiratory problems. They were all transported to UHC by Harrison County EMS and were treated and released. All Co. 7 units were back in station by 08:30 hours. 2/15/09 Weekend Activity
The boys had some activty this weekend. On Friday the 13th, Company 9 (Salem VFD), Engine 81 (Reynoldsville VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), and Doddridge Engine 31 (Smithburg VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on East Main Street in Salem. Engine 72 (w/5-Capt. Rohrbough) hit the street seconds later with Squad 7 (w/4-AC Richards) righ behind them. SVFD arrived on scene and advised HC911 of a controlled burn and to return all other responding units. Early on the 14th, at 02:45, Chief 8 requested Boat 7 to be alerted for a Vehicle Accident w/Injuries with 1 vehicle overturned in the creek on River Road in Sardis. Unit 76 (w/4-AC Richards) with Boat 7 hit the street 2 minutes later and assisted in search and rescue for the patient but later realizing that the subject had left the scene. On Sunday the 15th at 17:18, while Company 7 was alerted for a Brush Fire on US Route 98 near Eagle Way for a Brush Fire. Engine 71 hit the streets seconds later and arrived on scene with an unattended control burn. Crews extinguished the fire and returned in service 15 minutes later.
2/11/09 Storms and Heavy Winds Make For a Busy Night
On the evening of the 11th, storms with winds up to 70 miles per hour struck the area. The volunteers answered over 20 calls into the 12th including tree downs, lines down, roadway obstructions, powerline fires, and a possible structure fire. Thanks to our dedicated volunteers who assisted on these calls.
2/9/09 2nd Commercial Box in 2 Days
At 17:18 hours, Company 12 (Stonewood VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), and Engine 11 (Anmoore VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire at Jan Care Ambulance on Water Street in Stonewood. Engine 72 (w/5-DC Haddix) hit the street seconds later with Engine 71 (w/3-Capt. Nuzum) not far behind. STVFD E122 arrived on scene and advised HC911 of a 1-story commercial garage with smoke showing and a working fire. E72 hit the plug and hooked a line into E122 while crews from 12,7, and 1 made an aggressive interior attack on the fire using an 1 ¾” cross lay. Command 12 then requested Truck 2 (Bridgeport VFD) to be alerted so crews could make access to the roof. Crews made a quick knock down on the fire containing it within 20 minutes. 2/8/09 2 Alarm Auto Garage Fire
At 15:54, Company 1 (Anmoore VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), and Engine 122 (Stonewood VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire at Tom’s Taxi on Philippi Pike in East View. Engine 72 (w/6-AC Richards) hit the street seconds later with Squad 7 (w/4-DC Haddix) not far behind. Chief 1 (E. Hardman) and Engine 11 arrived on scene advising HC911 of a 1-story commercial auto body garage with fire and heavy smoke visible. Chief 1 then requested a 2nd alarm bringing Engine 21 (Bridgeport VFD), Engine 131 (Summit Park VFD), Engine 111 (Spelter VFD), and Engine 31 (Lost Creek VFD) to the scene. 72’s and E11’s crew stretched an 1 ¾” cross lay and made entry into the structure utilizing Engine 12’s K12 saw, while E72 was ordered to supply E11 with water. An aggressive interior attack by first arriving crews brought the fire under control within 20 minutes. Other units arriving on scene were advised to begin salvage and overhaul and relieving other crews .BPVFD Squad 2 was then set up to fill any air bottles needing filled. LCVFD E31 was then redirected to transfer to Co. 1 while units operated on scene. Co. 7 provided an interior attack crew, supplied E11 with water, and assisted with salvage and overhaul. 1/29/09 Rollover Sends 1 to UHC
At 21:51 hours, Companies 7 (Nutter Fort VFD), 12 (Stonewood VFD), and Ambulance 19 (Anmoore VFD/EMS) were alerted for a Vehicle Accident w/Injuries on US Route 20 in Craigmoor. Engine 71 (w/6-DC Haddix) hit the street seconds later and arrived on scene to find 1 SUV on its top with the patient out of the vehicle. Crews assisted EMS with patient care and packaging and cleared the roadway or debris and crews were back home by 22:40.
1/26/09 Another Tanker Assist
At 02:59 hours, Command 2 added Tanker 7 to a Structure Fire on US Route 73 near Richards Racing almost in Taylor County. Bridgeport, Boothsville, and Shinnston VFD's were on the scene with a fully involved mobile home fire. Tanker 7 (w/2-FF Waggamon) hit the street 2 minutes later and arrived on scene and supplied 1 load of water to units on scene. The tanker returned home by 04:30 hours.
1/22/09 Tanker Assist To Spelter
At around 17:15, Tanker 7 was alerted to respond to Jack Run Road in Meadowbrook for a Structure Fire. Crews from Spelter, Shinnston, and Lumberport VFD's were on the scene with a working house fire. Tanker7 (w/2-FF Waggamon) hit the street seconds later and arrived on scene and stood by for the remander of the incident with no services needed. The tanker was released by Command 11 at around 18:00.
1/17/09 Small Electrical Fire in the 1st Due
At 18:44 hours, Company 7 (Nutter Fort VFD), Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD), and Engine 11 (Anmoore VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire at 709 ½ Indiana Avenue in Nutter Fort. Engine 71 (w/4- FF Hardman) hit the street 1 minute later with Engine 72 (w/4-DC Haddix) not far behind. E71 arrived on scene and advised HC911 of a 2-story apartment style building with nothing apparent. Upon further investigation, it appeared and electrical outlet had overheated and caught a small section of the wall on fire. With this, AC7 (Richards) advised STVFD E122 to stage at the hydrant behind 71 and to return AVFD E12. Crews extinguished the smoldering section of wall with a water extinguisher while checking for extension using the TIC (Thermal Imaging Camera) and opening up the wall. 1/9/09 Volunteers Take in Early Morning Truck Fire
At 07:08 hours, Company 7 (Nutter Fort VFD) was alerted for a Truck Fire on Armory Road just off of US Route 19 in Clarksburg. Engine 71 (w/4-DC Haddix) hit the street 2 minutes later and arrived on scene shortly after and adivsed HC911 of a pickup truck fully involved. Crews stretched an 1 ½” trashline and began to extinguish the fire. The fire was quickly extinguished within 15 minutes and crews went ready by 08:00.
1/3/09 Same Location, Another Fire
At 05:20 hours, Company 1 (Anmoore VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), and Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on North Philippi Pike in East View. Engine 71 (w/4-DC Haddix) hit the street 2 minutes later. Lt. 1 arrived on scene and advised HC911 of a working fire at the same location as the previous fire. AVFD Engine 12 then arrived on scene and crews stretched an 1 ¾” cross lay and began the attack. E71's crew assisted with fire suppression and mop up while 71 supplied E12 with water. 1/1/09 First Call of 2009: 2nd Due Working Job
At 18:41 hours, Company 1 (Anmoore VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), and Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on North Philippi Pike in East View. Engine 71 (w/6-DC Haddix) hit the street a minute later with Squad 7 (w/4-Lt. Paugh) not far behind. AVFD Engine 12 arrived on scene and advised HC911 of a mobile home fully involved and stretched an 1 ¾” cross lay and began the attack. E71 arrived on scene as the 2nd due engine and supplied water to E12 while manpower was sent to assist in fire suppression. STVFD E122 then arrived on scene and hooked in to E12 for water supply. The fire was quickly placed under control and crews began hitting hotspots and mop up. Crews were in station by 19:45. The cause of this fire is suspicious and is being investigated by the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office. On a side note, this was Company 7’s first call of 2009. 1/1/09 2008 Comes to a Close
Well everyone 2008 is behind us now. We finished the year with 652 calls. Some highlights include 39 working structure fires and 62 motor vehicle accidents with 8 entrapments. Thanks to everyone who made 2008 a good one and heres to an even better 2009!
